Annual Dinner of 2010

On Friday, June 4, 2010, Jeunesse Contre la Drogue – JCD celebrated its 15th birthday during its annual dinner at Byblos Palace – Jbeil. The dinner was held under the kind patronage of his excellency Mr. Ziad Baroud, the Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities.

Present at the dinner were Mr. Rabih Al-Cha’ir, standing for the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities; Mr. Youssef Chahine, standing for the Minister of Youth and Sports; MP Fadi El-haber and MP Simon Abi Ramia standing for MP President Michel Aoun; and Dr. Georges Mfarrij, standing for the Pesident of the Executive Body of the Lebanese Forces Dr. Samir Geagea; as well as other economic and social personalities and artists.

During the dinner, Mr. Elie Lahoud, President of Jeunesse Contre la Drogue – JCD, gave a speech in which he focused on the problematic of the criminal record which haunts the addicts even after they overcome addiction. Mr. Lahoud stressed the necessity of solving this issue and separating the imprisoned drug addicts from the other prisoners, as well as the necessity of setting clear criteria for the organizations, especially the ones that work in the field of prevention and rehabilitation.

Then, Mr. rabih Al-Cha’ir presented the speech of the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Mr. Ziad Baroud, in which he stressed the efforts paid by the state and the security forces in fighting against drugs and addiction through the arrest of the largest possible number of promoters and drug dealers. He mentioned also the latest accomplishment done by the security forces when they arrested the biggest heroin dealer.

Lebanese singer Rayan gave a testimony about his experience with drugs and thanked God for helping him get rid of this problem and start a new life free of drugs. Then, he requested that the state should sentence drug dealers

The technical program included a dinner special, with the opening of artist Karen shot the evening with a selection of Lebanese and foreign songs great voice and singer Ryan revived the ceremony, then presented the “Khanito Academy of Dance,” a number of dance performances. Ms. Grace Oiyanjan Blonde group of foreign songs.
The proceeds of the concert return to the Rehabilitation Centre for drug addicts of the Assembly.
